Stars Head to Edmonton for Game 6 of the 2024 WCF Against Oilers; Looking to Bring Series Back to Big D

It’s simple for the top seed in the Western Conference. A win tonight and the series heads back to Dallas for a Game 7; a loss tonight and the season is over.

The Edmonton Oilers host the Dallas Stars in Game 6 of the 2024 Western Conference Finals at Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The Oilers lead the series 3-2 with puck drop being at 7 p.m. CT.

After taking a 2-1 series lead, the Stars have dropped Game 4 and Game 5. Before Wyatt Johnston scored the lone Stars goal in Game 5 before losing 3-1, the Stars had allowed eight consecutive Oiler goals after leading 2-0 early in the first period in Game 4.

2024 might be foreshadowing of 1999. Against the Avalanche in the 1999 Western Conference Finals, the Stars trailed 3-2 in the series before going on the road to Denver for Game 6 like tonight in Edmonton. 2024 has the same result of the wins and losses in each game just like 1999 did.

Entering tonight, Dallas will need to get a boost in the lineup from key players on its team. Matt Duchene and Joe Pavelski are both pointless the series; Mason Marchment and Evgenii Dadonov each have 1 point.

Stuart Skinner made 19 saves for Edmonton in the Game 5 win. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins scored two goals and Evan Bouchard recorded 2 assists.

In his press conference after the Game 5 loss, head coach Pete DeBoer got into an argument with Tim Cowlishaw when questioned about the character of the Stars. “I’m not gonna do it,” DeBoer said. “You know, you go ahead and write whatever the f-ck you want.”

With the Stars’ backs against the walls, the question is how will they respond after dropping back-to-back games and their season on the line tonight.
