Scoring in your NHL debut at Madison Square Garden, the “World’s Most Famous Arena” is something a 21-year-old would dream of from Lidkoping, Sweden. For the 132nd overall pick in the 2017 NHL Draft, Jacob Peterson would make it come true.

Peterson made a quick impact on the Stars in his NHL debut against the Rangers in New York City in the season opener on Oct. 14, 2021. He scored the first Stars goal of the 2021-22 season.

After his debut, Peterson played in 64 more games for the Stars and recorded finished with the sixth most goals on the Stars with 12; Peterson finished with 17 points.

The Stars returned to the Playoffs in 2022 after missing in 2021. Peterson would play in 3 games against the Flames and recorded no points. The following season, Peterson’s time in Dallas would come to an end.

Peterson played in just one game for the Stars in the 2022-23 season on Oct. 24, 2022, against the Senators. Peterson finished with a -2 rating. On March 3, 2023, Peterson was traded to the Sharks for Scott Reedy. In his tenure with the Stars, Peterson played 66 games and recorded 17 points (12G, 5A).

Following the trade to the Sharks, Peterson played in 11 games and recorded 8 points (2G, 6A). The Stars would make the Western Conference Final without Peterson. Reedy has played in 30 games in his two seasons with the Texas Stars and has recorded 17 points (11G, 6A).

This season, Peterson played in 6 games for the Sharks and recorded no points. Peterson only played games in October before being sent down to the AHL. Peterson has played in 83 NHL games.
