The road warrior mentality will have to stay with the Western Conference’s top seed in Sin City.

The Vegas Golden Knights host the Dallas Stars in Game 4 of the 2024 first round leading the 2024 first round series 2-1. Puck drop is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. CT.

After the Stars lost the first two games of the series at home, they headed to Vegas with a road warrior mentality to claw their way back in the series. The Stars’ 26 road wins in the regular season were tied for the most in the NHL with the Panthers.

Game 3 started strong with the Stars leading 2-0 in the second period, but the Golden Knights scored two goals 3:10 apart to tie the game. Overtime was needed after a scoreless third and Wyatt Johnston’s second goal of the game was the overtime winner at 16:23.

Despite the loss, Logan Thompson made 43 saves for the Golden Knights. Brayden McNabb recorded one goal and an assist.

With Mason Marchment and Radek Faksa out with injuries for Game 3, Craig Smith was inserted in and recorded the second most shots on goal among the Stars roster with six. Jake Oettinger made 32 saves. Miro Heiskanen, Thomas Harley and Chris Tanev had a TOI over 30 minutes.

When the Stars won Game 4 in overtime against the Golden Knights at home in last year’s Western Conference Final, they won Game 5 in Vegas to force a sixth game.

Four of Dallas’ 25-goal scorers haven’t scored a goal (Roope Hintz, Joe Pavelski, Tyler Seguin and Matt Duchene) in the first three games of the series.

A Stars win will force at least a sixth game in Vegas on Friday. A Golden Knights will put the Stars on the brink of elimination on Wednesday night in Dallas for Game 5.
