In Game 80, the Stars can achieve something they haven’t done since the 2015-16 season.

The Dallas Stars (50-20-9) host the Winnipeg Jets (48-24-6) at American Airlines Center. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT.

It’s simple for the Stars; a win tonight in any fashion, they will clinch the Central Division for the first time since the 2015-16 season. On Tuesday night, the Stars won 3-2 against the Sabres, but couldn’t get help from the Predators defeating the Jets in regulation or the Wild defeating the Avalanche in regulation to clinch the Central.

Both the Stars and Jets head into tonight winning four of their last five games. This season, the Stars have won all three games against the Jets in regulation. In the last meeting between the teams in Dallas on Feb. 29, the Stars won 4-1.

In the Feb. 29 win, the Stars scored three times in the first period. Jake Oettinger made 25 saves and Joe Pavelski and Roope Hintz recorded one goal and an assist each.

For the Jets, a win would tie them with the Avalanche for second place. The Jets trail the Avalanche by 2 points. Mark Scheifele leads the Jets with 69 points (24G, 45A) and Kyle Connor leads the Jets with 32 goals. Connor Hellebuyck has a 2.42 GAA with a 35-19-4 record.
