After earning a franchise record eighth consecutive win, the Stars can sweep the regular season series against an Original Six team.
The Dallas Stars (48-19-9) play the Chicago Blackhawks (22-48-5) at United Center. Puck drop is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. CT.
In the Stars’ previous game on Wednesday night, the Stars defeated the Oilers 5-0 to break their franchise record for consecutive wins with eight. In the second period, the Stars scored 4 goals in a span of 5:48.
Radek Faksa recorded 3 points and the 200th of his NHL career. Wyatt Johnston became the first Star to score 30 goals this season. Jake Oettinger recorded 35 saves in his second consecutive shutout.
For the Blackhawks, they are 5-5-0 in their last 10 games. Connor Bedard leads the Blackhawks in 21 goals, 37 assists and 58 points this season. Philipp Kurashev is Chicago’s only other 50-point scorer (16G, 34A= 50 points) this season.
Entering today’s afternoon matchup, the Stars have won all three games against the Blackhawks this season. The two teams played each other in Dallas with the Stars winning 5-4 in overtime on Dec. 29 and 8-1 on New Year’s Eve. In both games, one Stars player recorded a hat trick.
In the Dec. 29 meeting, Roope Hintz recorded a hat trick by scoring the game winner in overtime; in the New Year’s Eve game, Mason Marchment recorded a hat trick.
In the first meeting in Chicago, the Stars won 3-1 on Jan. 13. The Stars scored three times in the third period after trailing 1-0 heading into the third period.
