Stars Head to Western Canada for Important Game Against Canucks

Tonight’s 74th game of the 2023-24 season is one of the most important games for the only NHL team in the state of Texas.

The Dallas Stars (45-19-9) travel to Rogers Arena to take on the Vancouver Canucks (45-19-8) in British Columbia. Puck drop is scheduled for 9 p.m. CT.

The NHL standings are getting closer and the regular season is coming to an end. At the moment, the Stars (99 points) are the first seed in the Western Conference by one point to the Canucks (98 points) with one more game played. Tonight’s matchup is the third and final one.

In the first meeting this season in Vancouver on Nov. 4, the Stars were shutout 2-0. In the second meeting this season in Dallas on Dec. 21, the Stars won 4-3 with Matt Duchene scoring the overtime winner with under 10 seconds remaining.

Entering tonight, the Stars have won five consecutive games with the most recent being a 6-3 win in San Jose against the Sharks on Tuesday night. The Canucks enter losing their previous game on Monday night at home 3-2 against the Kings.

For Dallas in its last game, Jamie Benn and Wyatt Johnston each recorded 3 points. Johnston and Jason Robertson each scored twice.

For Vancouver, they placed goaltender Thatcher Demko on LTIR. J.T. Miller leads the team with 91 points (34G, 57A) this season. Brock Boeser leads the team with 37 goals. Quinn Hughes leads the team with 68 assists and has a +/- rating of +39.

There are other games to pay attention to for impacting the NHL standings. Two potential first round opponents the Jets and Golden Knights play at 7 p.m. CT in Winnipeg. With one less game played and trailing the Stars by 2 points, the Avalanche host the Rangers at 8 p.m. CT.
