Stars Head to the Mile High City on a Back-to-Back to Play Avalanche

After last night’s overtime loss, it’s a quick turnaround for the Stars against a team chasing them for the Central Division.

The Dallas Stars (35-16-9) travel to Denver, Colorado, to play the Colorado Avalanche (35-19-5) at Ball Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. CT.

In last night’s 3-2 overtime loss to the Islanders, Logan Stankoven recorded his first NHL goal and assist in his second NHL game. Matt Duchene scored a goal to record his 800th career point.

The Avalanche enter tonight losing two consecutive games to the Red Wings in overtime and Maple Leafs. Nathan MacKinnon is second in the NHL in points with 96; MacKinnon leads Colorado with 34 goals and 62 assists.

Miko Rantanen has 74 points (30G, 44A) and Cale Makar has 61 points (13G, 48A). Goaltender Alexander Georgiev has a 30-14-3 record, 2.92 GAA and .899 SV% in 48 games played this season.

In the two previous meetings this season in Dallas, the Avalanche defeated the Stars in both games. Colorado came back from 3-0 to win 6-3 in the Nov. 18 meeting. In the Jan. 4 meeting, Colorado came back from 4-2 to win 5-4 in overtime.

Since the 2021-22 season, the Stars are 3-4-2 against the Avalanche. In the nine games, Dallas is 1-2-0 in Denver.
