Marco Constantini’s Goaltending Helps Allen Prevail Against Tulsa

When the Americans needed goaltender Marco Constantini against the Oilers, he delivered his best game of the season.

The Allen Americans defeated the Tulsa Oilers 4-2 at BOK Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. With the win, Allen improved to 22-24-2-1 and 6-3-1-0 against Tulsa this season.

Entering tonight, Constantini won his last three starts. The most saves Constantini made this season was 35 on Jan. 31 against Idaho. In his ninth start in goal tonight, Constantini recorded a season-high 53 saves on 55 Tulsa shots on goal.

Thirty-seven seconds into the game, Blake Murray scored to give Allen a 1-0 lead. Bennett MacArthur scored a 4-on-4 breakaway goal with 2:42 remaining in the first. Constantini stopped all 14 Tulsa shots on goal to take a 2-0 Allen lead into the first intermission.

Each teams traded a goal each in the second period. Kishaun Gervais scored 3:16 into the second period for Tulsa to make it 2-1. Just a little over five minutes later, Grant Herbert scored to make it 3-1. Tulsa recorded 22 shots on goal in the period, but scored once against Constantini.

Nineteen shots on goal were recorded by Tulsa in the third period. Karl Boudrias scored for Tulsa to make it 3-2 with 3:01 remaining in the third perod, but it was the only goal Tulsa would score to have a chance of tying the game. With 25.6 seconds left, Allen’s Eric Williams scored the empty netter to seal the game.

MacArthur, Herbert and Williams each recorded one goal and an assist. Allen captain Kris Myllari recorded a +3 rating.

Tulsa fell to 22-20-4-1. Goaltender Troy Kobryn recorded 22 saves for the Oilers. Alec Butcher recorded two assists.

The Americans will be back in action tomorrow at 4:05 p.m. as they host the Oilers in a rematch at Credit Union of Texas Event Center in Allen, Texas. It is “O’Reilly McDonald’s Night” at the game.
