OH, HARLS YEAH! Stars Win Last Game Before All-Star Break in OT Against Capitals

For the second straight game, the Stars’ Thomas Harley called game.

The Dallas Stars defeated the Washington Capitals 5-4 in overtime at American Airlines Center. With the win, the Stars improved to 30-13-6 and won both games against the Capitals this season.

After taking a 2-1 lead into the first intermission, both teams traded a goal each in the second period. Prior to the game, Matt Duchene was honored for his 1,000 career game. At 2:24 into the third period, Duchene scored to make it 4-2 Stars.

The Caps who fell to 22-18-7, wouldn’t quit down by two goals. Alex Ovechkin scored a powerplay goal for Washington to make it 4-3 with two minutes remaining. Seventy-seven seconds later, Dylan Strome made it a 4-4 game. For the second straight game for the Stars, overtime was needed.

On Thursday night, Harley scored the overtime winner for Dallas against the Ducks. Today, Harley did it again for the Stars. Harley’s second goal of the game was the overtime winner and Harley now has 12 goals this season for Dallas.

Miro Heiskanen and Tyler Seguin each recorded two assists; Duchene and Mason Marchment each recorded a goal and an assist; Wyatt Johnston scored his 14th goal of the season.

The Stars will head into the All-Star break now with 66 points this season and winning three consecutive games. Jake Oettinger who made 24 saves in the win today, will represent the Stars at the All-Star Game in Toronto. Dallas will resume regular season play on Feb. 6 in Buffalo against the Sabres. Last season in Buffalo, the Stars defeated the Sabres 10-4.
