Evgenii Dadonov’s return to the lineup not enough as Stars drop second game in a row against Panthers

Two games in the Sunshine State resulted in the same result for the Stars.

The Florida Panthers defeated the Dallas Stars 5-4 at Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise, Florida. With the loss, Dallas fell to 14-7-3 and has lost six of its last nine games.

After trailing 2-1 after the first period, Carter Verhaeghe scored the only goal in the second period. The goal came 24 seconds into the period.

Dallas scored two goals in 4:15 to tie the game in the third period from goals from Mason Marchment and Evgenii Dadonov. Florida re-took the lead after Stars goaltender Jake Oettinger lost sight of the puck and Aleksander Barkov scored 37 seconds later. Evan Rodrigues scored a powerplay goal with 12 minutes left in the period to make it 5-3.

In the past two games against the Lightning and Panthers in Florida, Oettinger has allowed nine goals. Oettinger made 26 saves on 31 shots on goal from the Panthers.

Thomas Harley scored on the powerplay to make it 5-4 at 12:26 in the third, but no comeback would be completed. Panthers goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky recorded 29 saves in the win.

Miro Heiskanen, Ryan Suter, Tyler Seguin, Matt Duchene and Marchment each had a -2 rating. Marchment and Harley each recorded a goal and an assist. Radek Faksa scored his second goal of the season in the first period.

Dallas will conclude its three-game road trip with finishing a back-to-back tomorrow night at Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C. against the Washington Capitals. The Stars took both meeting against the Capitals last season. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT.
