After an 8-1 win against the Lightning on Saturday afternoon, Monday’s game was the complete opposite for the Stars.

The Tampa Bay Lightning shutout the Dallas Stars 4-0 in Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida, splitting the two-game season series. With the loss, the Stars fell to 14-6-3 and remain in second place in the Central Division with 31 points. The Stars were shutout for the second time this season.

Tampa scored two goals in the first period from Nikita Kucherov and Anthony Cirelli. Kucherov extended his point streak to 10 games.

After a scoreless second period, Tampa scored two unassisted goals from ex-Star Luke Glendening and Cirelli again. Playing in his fourth game of the season coming off of an injury, Lightning goaltender Andrei Vasilevsky made 25 saves to record his first shutout of the season. Vasilevsky needed a much better performance after allowing six goals and getting pulled after two periods in Saturday’s loss to Dallas.

Stars goaltender recorded 19 saves on 23 shots in the game. Miro Heiskanen finished with a -3 rating; Ryan Suter finished with a -4 rating.

Lightning defenseman Victor Hedman played in his 1,000 NHL game and was honored before the game.

Dallas will remain in Florida for its next game on Wednesday night in Sunrise against the defending Eastern Conference Champion Florida Panthers. Puck drop is scheduled for 6 p.m. CT. The Stars won both meetings against the Panthers last season.
