Fredrik Olofsson was drafted 98th overall in the 2014 NHL Draft by the Blackhawks, but would have to wait until the 2022-23 season to get NHL action.
Prior to making his NHL debut with the Dallas Stars on Dec. 27, 2022, Olofsson spent the past two seasons with Oskarshamn IK of the SweHL. Olofsson would go pointless in the first two games of his career.
In his third NHL game, Olofsson scored his first NHL goal in the Stars’ traditional New Year’s Eve game against the Sharks. Joe Pavelski would get the primary assist in the goal. Olofsson’s goal would turn out to be the game winner as the Stars won 5-2.
After his first NHL goal, Olofsson would only record three assists for the rest of the season in 28 games played for the Stars. Heading into the 2023 Playoffs, Olofsson wasn’t expected to play at all. That would change in the Western Conference Finals against the Golden Knights.
When Jamie Benn was suspended for two games for his major penalty against Mark Stone, the Stars inserted Olofsson into the lineup. Trailing 3-0 in the series, the Stars would win the next two games with Olofsson in the lineup. In Dallas’ Game 5 win, Olofsson had a +1 rating.
Olofsson was inserted out of the lineup once Benn’s suspension was done. But, the Stars would lose the series after losing Game 6 at home 6-0. After the Playoffs, Olofsson’s tenure in Dallas was done at 27 years old.
On June 15, 2023, the Stars traded Olofsson to the Avalanche for future considerations. This past season with the Avalanche, Olofsson only recorded nine points (3G, 6A) in 57 games. Olofsson wouldn’t play a game for the Avalanche in the 2024 Playoffs.

On July 8, 2024, Olofsson signed with the EV Zug of the National League. It might be unsure if Olofsson will play in the NHL anytime soon. In his NHL career, Olofsson has recorded 13 points (4G, 9A) in 85 games.
