Yesterday, the defending Central Division champion Dallas Stars had their 2024-25 season get released. At first glance, there will be some big games at the AAC, and the house will be rockin’.
But, what are the best games in Big D that you can’t miss being at? Here’s the list:
#8 Defending President’s Trophy champion Rangers
On Dec. 20, the Stars will host the defending President’s Trophy winner Rangers. For the game being on a Friday night, it adds more to make it a hot game to attend. Last season, the Stars defeated the Rangers 6-3 in Dallas after trailing 2-0 in the game.
#7 First WCF rematch vs Oilers
In the sixth game of the season, the Stars will play the Oilers for the first time in the 2024-25 season on Oct. 19 on a Saturday afternoon game. It’s the first rematch of the 2024 Western Conference Finals. Revenge will be on the Stars’ minds with the series loss.

#6 First round 1 rematch vs Vegas
The Stars will get their first rematch in Dallas against the Golden Knights on Jan. 24 who the team defeated in the opening round of the 2024 Playoffs. Vegas has lost Jonathan Marchessault, Chandler Stephenson and Logan Thompson this off-season. The Golden Knights will be a different team, but will always give the Stars competitive games.

#5 Utah’s first game in Big D
With the Coyotes leaving Arizona and moving to Utah, the league will welcome the new Utah Hockey Club. Utah will play its first game in Big D on Jan. 4 on a Saturday night. In the final season known as the “Coyotes” last season, the Stars won all three games.
#4 Home opener vs Islanders
The Stars will begin their 2024-25 season in Nashville on Oct. 10, so the Stars will have their home opener two nights later on Oct. 12 against the Islanders. The Islanders defeated the Stars twice in overtime last season. One exciting moment against the Islanders last season for the Stars was Logan Stankoven scoring his first NHL goal.
#3 New Year’s Eve tradition vs Sabres
One of the favorite traditions in Dallas is the Stars’ annual home game on New Year’s Eve, and it will be against the Sabres to close 2024. New Year’s Eve will always be one of the hottest tickets for the Stars during any season. Last season against the Blackhawks on New Year’s Eve, Mason Marchment recorded a hat trick in the 8-1 win.
#2 First game against the new look Predators
One team that made big splashes this off-season is the Predators. The team signed Steven Stamkos, Marchessault, Brady Skjei and ex-Star Scott Wedgewood. The Predators look to be a tough team to beat this season. The Predators come to Dallas for the first time on Dec. 12.
#1 Black Friday round 2 rematch vs Avs
The hottest game for the Stars at home is on Black Friday against a Central Division rival, the Avalanche. With the Stars beating the Avalanche in the second round of the 2024 Playoffs in double overtime, this is the hottest game and best game at home for the Stars. Shall the Stars do a blackout giveaway with rally towels or a shirt giveaway for the game?
