For the 143rd overall pick in the 2017 NHL Draft by the New Jersey Devils, Slovakia native Marián Studenič had to wait until the 2020-21 shortened 56-game season to begin his NHL career.
On April 11, 2021, Studenič made his NHL debut. After going pointless in the first three games of his career, he scored his first NHL goal one week after making his debut against the Rangers.
After his first goal, Studenič would only record 1 point in the next four games he played. Studenič played in 8 games for the Devils in the 2020-21 season. His tenure in New Jersey would soon come to an end. After scoring 1 goal in 17 games with a -6 rating in the 2021-22 season with the Devils, Studenič was placed on waivers on Feb. 23, 2022.
The following day, the Stars claimed Studenič off waivers at 23 years old. Studenič played in 16 games after being claimed by the Stars and recorded 3 points (1G, 2A).
Studenič made his Stars debut against the Maple Leafs on March 15, 2022. His best game as a Star came against the Islanders when he scored and had a +2 rating on April 5, 2022.
After missing the Playoffs in 2021, the Stars returned and faced the Flames in the 2022 Playoffs. Studenič recorded no points and a -3 rating while playing in 4 games of the series.
Last season, Studenič played in 3 games for the Stars in February 2023. After recording no points, the Stars loaned him back to the Texas Stars. Studenič played in no 2023 Playoff games.
On July, 1, 2023, Studenič signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Seattle Kraken who fell to the Stars in Game 7 of the 2023 second round. In his short tenure with the Stars, Studenič recorded 3 points (1G, 2A) in 19 games played.
Prior to the start of the regular season this past October, the Kraken placed Studenič on waivers. Studenič did have a chance to play for Kraken this season, but it wasn’t for long; Studenič played in back-to-back games against the Maple Leafs on Nov. 30, 2023, and against the Senators Dec. 2, 2023.
Studenič recorded no points and 2 PIM and has yet to play in the NHL again this season. In his career thus far, he has 6 points (3G, 3A) in 46 games played.
