For Hamilton, Ontario, native Krys Barch, he got his first NHL action with the Dallas Stars in the 2006-07 season at the age of 25. On Jan. 15, 2007, Barch made his NHL debut against the Los Angeles Kings.
On Feb. 1, 2007, Barch scored his first NHL against San Jose Sharks in his seventh NHL game. The enforcer finished the 2006-07 season playing in 26 games played, the enforcer recording 3 goals, 2 assists and 107 PIM. Barch wouldn’t play any of the seven games of the 2007 Playoffs against the Vancouver Canucks.
The following season, Barch was a member of the Stars team that went to the 2008 Western Conference Finals and lost in six games to the Detroit Red Wings. In the regular season, Barch played 48 games and recorded 1 goal, 2 assists and 105 PIM.
Barch wouldn’t see any Playoff action until Game 4 of the Conference Finals against the Red Wings when the Stars trailed 3-0 in the series. In Game 4, Barch had a 1:56 TOI playing three shifts. After the Stars won Game 4, Barch dressed in Game 5 and Game 6.
In Game 5, Barch saw less ice time playing 1:15. In the 4-1 loss in Game 6 which eliminated the Stars, Barch played 3:53 and earned 2 PIM.
After the 2008 Playoffs, Barch would go on to three more full seasons with the Stars. In December 2011, Barch was traded along with a 2012 sixth-round pick to the Florida Panthers in exchange for Jake Hauswirth and a 2012 fifth-round pick. Barch had no points in 10 games at the time of the trade. Hauswirth never played a game in the NHL
Barch’s career totals in Dallas are 263 games played, 26 points (10G, 16A) and 578 PIM. According to QuantHockey, Barch’s 578 PIM is ninth all-time in Stars history.
Barch would be a member of the 2012 Panthers Playoff team recording 5 points (2G, 3A) in 41 games after the trade. The Panthers made the Playoffs for the first time since 2000, but fell to the New Jersey Devils in seven games. Just like in 2007, Barch didn’t play in any of the Playoff games for the Panthers.
In the 2012-13 lockout 48-game season, Barch joined the Devils and played in 22 games, but recorded no points. The 2013-14 season would be Barch’s last as he was traded to the Panthers in late September 2013 and played in 55 games and recorded 4 assists. Barch’s last game in his career came against the Stars on April 6, 2014.

Barch’s final NHL numbers are 381 games played, 35 points (12G, 23A), -16 rating and 812 PIM. All 12 of Barch’s goal were at even strength.
