Is Dallas a Hockey Town? “Oh, Dallas is For Sure a Hockey Town”

From reading about a Dallas Stars gameday experience in August 2023, to experiencing one for the first time in March 2024.

For 23-year-old Luis Muller, he visited Dallas, Texas, for the first time and couldn’t pass on an opportunity to watch a Stars game at American Airlines Center. Muller was a part of the sellout crowd at the Stars Sharks game last night.

The AAC was Muller’s seventh NHL arena he’s visited. This past August, Muller read what a Dallas Stars gameday experience at the AAC was about. From Pantera’s “Puck Off” goal song, to the National Anthem, to yelling “WHO CARES” after a goal by the visiting team, to singing “Friends in Low Places” and more.

Short to say, after attending his first Stars game in Dallas, the AAC was a lucky number seven for Muller.

“It was a great experience,” Muller said. “The presentation of the game was amazing.”

When being inside the AAC, Muller immediately took note of one thing.

“It was one of the cleanest [arenas],” Muller said. “And, like, walking around the halls I didn’t feel like I couldn’t touch anything. I could touch everything and still eat my chicken tenders without getting hand sanitizer.”

Muller’s favorite gameday traditions included Pantera’s “Puck Off” goal song as well as the “on the POWERPLAY” chant. Muller’s favorite tradition was the National Anthem with the yelling of the “STARS.”

The Stars have called Dallas home since re-locating from Minnesota in 1993. Houston is more populated than Dallas, but Muller knows where hockey belongs in the Lone Star State.

“The state’s hockey is right here in Dallas,” Muller said. “And, it probably won’t leave any time soon. I don’t care if they bring an expansion team to Houston. Dallas is hockey in Texas.”

For people looking into visiting Dallas, Muller gave a recommendation.

“Definitely the AAC is the spot to be,” Muller said.
