Stars Continue Road Trip in New Jersey Against Devils

After a loss in Philadelphia on Thursday night, the Stars will meet a 2023 Playoff team for the first time this season.

The Dallas Stars (26-13-5) travel to Prudential Center to take on the New Jersey Devils (23-17-3) in Newark, New Jersey. Puck drop is scheduled for 6 p.m. CT.

In Dallas’ recent game on Thursday night, the Stars fell to the Flyers in Philadelphia 5-1. Tyler Seguin scored the lone goal in the loss. Philadelphia recorded 43 shots on goal against Jake Oettinger. Scott Wedgewood will get the start today against the Devils with a game tomorrow against the Islanders.

For the Devils, they defeated the Blue Jackets 4-1 in Columbus last night after losing two consecutive games to the Bruins and Canadiens. New Jersey is two points behind the Lightning and Red Wings for a Wild Card seed. Forward Jesper Bratt leads the Devils with 46 points and is tied with Tyler Toffoli for most goals on the team with 16.

New Jersey has been dealing with injuries to its team this season. Both Jack Hughes and Nico Hischier have played 32 games; Ondrej Palat has played 35 games; Dougie Hamilton has played 20 games. Hughes, Palat, Hamilton and Brendan Smith are all out for the Devils tonight.

Last season, the Stars earned three out of a possible four points against the Devils. The Stars defeated the Devils 4-1 in New Jersey on Dec. 13, 2022, and lost in overtime 3-2 in Dallas on Jan. 27, 2023.

In the December meeting, Wedgewood made 35 saves in the win. In the January meeting, the Devils erased a 2-0 deficit with Hughes scoring two goals including the overtime winner. Roope Hintz and Ty Dellandrea each scored a goal in both games against New Jersey.
