It’s the same opponent and setting as the Stars conclude 2023.

The Dallas Stars (21-9-4) host the Chicago Blackhawks (11-22-2) for the second time in three nights at American Airlines Center. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT.

Two nights ago, the Stars defeated the Blackhawks 5-4 in overtime with Roope Hintz scoring the game winning goal in overtime with under 10 seconds remaining in the overtime period to cap off the hat trick. Dallas recorded 35 shots on goal against goaltender Petr Mrazek. Dallas goaltender Scott Wedgewood made 25 saves and earned his 10th win of the season.

Jamie Benn and Joe Pavelski finished with a goal and assist each in the win; Jason Robertson recorded two assists.

Dallas held 2023 first overall pick Connor Bedard pointless and he finished with a -3 rating. Bedard leads all rookies with 32 points (15G, 17A) in the NHL. Philipp Kurashev is the next leading scorer on Chicago with 21 points (6G, 15A) this season.

Tonight is the annual New Year’s Eve game in Dallas for the Stars. Last season, Pete DeBoer won his first New Year’s Eve game as Dallas head coach defeating the San Jose Sharks 5-2.
