Matt Duchene Returns to Nashville as Stars Begin Two-Game Road Trip

The Stars are set to play their final game before the Christmas break against a team they have not played this season.

The Dallas Stars (19-8-4) play the Nashville Predators (19-14-0) at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee. Puck drop is less than 75 minutes away. For one Stars player, today’s game is personal.

After spending four seasons as a Predator, today Matt Duchene plays his former team for the first time. Duchene was bought out of his seven-year, $56 million contract with Nashville on June 30, 2023. The next day, Duchene signed a one-year, $3 million deal with Dallas and has not disappointed this season.

In 30 games played into his first season in Dallas, Duchene has scored 11 goals and had 18 assists. Duchene is second on the team with most assists and tied for second with most goals on the team alongside Roope Hintz.

In Dallas’ recent game on Thursday night, Duchene scored the overtime winner with under 10 seconds left against the Vancouver Canucks. Duchene helped Dallas end its seven-game losing streak against the Canucks.

For the Predators, they are coming off a win in their last game on Thursday in Philadelphia against the Flyers 4-2. Philip Tomasino scored two goals and Colton Sissons recorded two assists in the game.

After today’s game, the Stars and Predators will meet again in Dallas on Jan. 6.
