On a chilly Black Friday evening in T-Town, Allen prevails with a comeback and wins its second straight road game.
The Allen Americans defeated the Tulsa Oilers 5-4 in overtime at the BOK Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. With the win, Allen improved to 5-10-0 on the season.
Allen jumped out to a 1-0 lead 3:53 into the game on a Justin Allen powerplay goal. After Allen’s goal, the Americans struggled the rest of the first period. Tulsa scored three goals from Kyle Cmkovic, Tyler Paulsen and Kishaun Gervais to lead 3-1 after the first period.
In the second period, Tulsa put more pressure on the Allen defense. Tulsa added one goal from Kalvyn Watson and recorded 18 shots on goal. Allen only recorded two shots on goal in the second period. Tulsa outshot Allen 32-13 through the first two periods.
Americans goaltender Mark Sinclair stopped 37-of-41 Tulsa shots on goal.
Trailing 4-1 to start the third period, Allen had a powerplay goal disallowed 1:34 into the period. Allen would score two goals from Colby McAuley and Johnny Walker.
With 2:12 remaining in regulation, Allen got a powerplay with a chance to tie the game. With 23.8 seconds remaining, McAuley scored his second goal of the game on the powerplay to tie the game at four to force overtime.
In the seven-minute overtime period, Tulsa had a delayed penalty. With Sinclair pulled and at the bench for the extra attacker, Kris Myllari scored 1:12 into overtime to win it for Allen.
For the first time this season, Allen has won two games in a row. Allen has won two of its three games against Tulsa this season.
William Provost and Hank Crone each finished with three assists in the game. Nolan Orzcek recorded two assists.
The Americans will conclude their back-to-back against the Oilers tomorrow at the BOK Center. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. CT.
