Dallas shakes off its slow first period start and earn road victory over Pittsburgh.
The Stars defeated the Penguins 4-1 at PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. With the win, Dallas improves to 4-0-1 as Pittsburgh falls to 2-4-0 on the season. Dallas earned its second straight win against the Penguins.
After Bryan Rust scored with under 40 left in the first period to make it 1-0 Pittsburgh, the Stars scored four unanswered goals.
Jason Robertson tied the game at 1 at 7:37 into the second period. With under four minutes left in the second period, Evgenii Dadonov scored to make it 2-1 Stars. Matt Duchene recorded his first point as a Star on Dadonov’s goal.
Dallas would get two more goals in the third period from Thomas Harley and Wyatt Johnston to make it 4-1 Dallas and hold on to win. Both Robertson and Harley recorded a goal and an assist each. Johnston scored for the second straight game.
Robertson, Dadonov and Harley all scored their first goals of the season for Dallas.
Jake Oettinger stopped 38-of-39 Pittsburgh shots. Oettinger hasn’t allowed more than two goals in a game this season. Pittsburgh’s Alex Nedeljkovic got his second start in goal for the Penguins and allowed four goals on 34 Dallas shots.
Dallas will return home from a quick one-game trip on Thursday as they host the 4-2-0 Toronto Maple Leafs at American Airlines Center. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT.
