Dallas Stars v Vegas Golden Knights

Period 1
The Stars and Knights have a short-standing rivalry. The Knights ending the Stars’ run in 2023 like it was yesterday, Stars shutting down their run in 2020. For a team that’s barely old enough to be in kindergarten, they definitely have a juggernaut nature to them. The Misfit Spirit is one that’s elusive, and not easily broken easily. They have five Original Misfits left, but their newest members are the ones making their marks.
One thing I definitely appreciate is the Benn-Johnston-Dadonov line. They keep evolving with their chemistry and had some strong chances to score. On the other hand, please don’t leave your crease Otter, it’s too much for my heart to bear. As for our defense, I beg for better puck possession and less getting lost on the ice, among other things.
Score: DAL 0 – 0 VGK
Goals: Not A Soul.
Period 2
Apparently, our thing is flirting with the penalty box, and delaying the game. Roope and Wyatt on the penalty kill was undoubtedly a sight. Starting the period on a power play, then being on the kill not too long after and back to the man advantage feels more like a messy game of pinball and not quite hockey.
Some might compare it to Romeo and Juliet, the weird back and forth of underlying tension.
Meanwhile, I’m begging Mason Marchment and Ty Dellandrea to stay out of the box. I’m a simple lady, please end my suffering.
Score: DAL 1 – 1VGK
Goals: Craig Smith with an assist from Thomas Harley, Kaiden Korzak with an assist from Brett Howden and William Karlsson.
Period 3
We open the final frame with a power play for Vegas, with impressive saves from Oettinger and Hill holding it down on each end. Puck possession improves off cuff and after an icing call on Vegas, Pavelski gets our second goal for the night. The game only becomes more tense post-goal, and it feels like we’re playing perpetual pinball until the Knights score with three minutes remaining.
Score: DAL 2 – 2 VGK
Goals: Joe Pavelski with an assist from Roope Hintz, William Karlsson with an assist from Mark Stone and Kaiden Korzak.
Overtime and Shootout
Truthfully, these five minutes of 3-on-3 were filled with almosts, handoffs and Otter holding it down.
As for the shootout, Duchene zooms by, and both Robertson and Hintz miss by iron.
Final
Dallas 2 – 3 Vegas
